The pendant itself is solid and built to last, but the best advice is to treat it as you would any precious jewellery: take it off before bed, heavy exercise, or anything that risks a knock or snag. The more you wear it, the more it becomes part of you — that’s exactly what it’s made for.

Plain water won’t damage the pendant, but I’d recommend removing it before showering, swimming, or bathing. It’s not the water itself that causes problems — it’s the chemicals in shampoos, soaps, pool chlorine, and sea salt that can tarnish sterling silver and affect the resin setting over time. A few splashes are nothing to worry about; daily immersion isn’t ideal.

Just a teaspoon — that’s all I need, and in practice I use considerably less. I’ll send you a small ash pack when you order, including a biodegradable bamboo spoon and a pre-paid return envelope. Whatever isn’t used is carefully returned to you with your finished piece.

I make cremation ash necklaces in sterling silver, 9ct white, yellow and rose gold, 18ct white, yellow and rose gold, and platinum. The metal you choose changes the look and feel of the piece considerably — if you’re unsure, I’m happy to advise. Sterling silver is the most popular choice; gold gives a warmer, more heirloom quality.

It works especially well in resin settings and is a lovely alternative for those who prefer it, or want to combine a little hair with ashes in a single piece.
