How Much Ashes Do You Need To Make Jewellery?

Just a teaspoon's worth of ash is required, and other answers related to cremation ash jewellery. Read on...

A teaspoon's worth of ash is required.

I am frequently asked about how much ash is required for making ashes jewellery

In simple terms, only a bit of a pinch goes into most cremation ash jewellery. Of course, larger pieces need a bit more, but in general half a pinch is used.

We ask for a teaspoon's worth, so we can select what we need, from the colour of ash and the size of the grains. Therefore a teaspoon's worth of ash is more than enough to make a dozen pieces.

I make the following pieces

All unused ash is returned to you.

We have no need to keep or discard the ash.

ALL unused ash is returned to you. We simply use what we need to make your commission.

We treat your loved ones ashes as if they were our own. In the workshop, we have all lost a loved one. We know the pain of loss.

  • Only a teaspoon's worth of ash is required and is enough to make a dozen pieces.

How do I know you will use my ash in my piece of jewellery?

I understand this question and assure you that we DO indeed use your loved ones cremains in your unique jewellery piece.

Apart from the moral and ethical question of why would we lie to you and what would we gain from such a thing, consider the alternatives. The first might be that I have a pile of ashes that I am trying to get rid of rather than using your ashes. Just doesn't make any sense. The second thought would be that instead of going to the storage cupboard where your loved ones ashes are. We save ourselves a short walk across the room and use the aforementioned stockpile of ashes that I am trying to get rid of.

As you can see, there is simply no reason or logic which would ever lead us to use someone else's ashes.

Each piece is handmade, from scratch just for you. Rest assured, I do what I promise I will do. You're in the safest of hands here.

    Where is my ash stored?

Each pack of ash is labelled with your purchase date, your name, and the name of your loved one.

We work on one piece at a time, so there is no chance of ash being misused. We have been making cremation ash mourning jewellery for 20 years. I am the oldest established maker of bespoke memorial jewellery in the UK.

When your ashes are delivered, we send you an e-mail to let you know. The ashes are checked in and stored securely and out of the way until they are required. When we are ready to make your piece of jewellery, the ashes are fetched from the safe storage, and the details are checked. At no point do your loved ones ashes leave the premises.

Your commission is completed and readied for shipping or collection. Of course, we keep the ashes and your commission together, and you will receive ALL unused ash back.

I'm not ready to order a piece of jewellery yet, can I have a pack for some ashes in advance?

Yes. Each commission will be sent a pack anyway, but if you want one in advance, that is no problem.

You might be undecided on what piece of jewellery to commission to keep the ashes of your loved one safe.

You might not have the ashes yet, and just want to get your self organised.

So please feel free to order a pack in advance for FREE.
